An interesting, China related news bit: white-collar fashion-enthusiasts in Shanghai are upset that the spring-summer 2007 Louis-Vitton bags are exactly like those plaid red-blue-white bags you see farmers lugging around at Shanghai Railway Station as they head home from a visit to the city.
The Louis Vitton website is done in Flash and therefore not directly linkable, so look for the "Women's Spring-Summer 2007 Fashion Show" and click on it.

This is simply hilarious. I can't stop laughing!!!
The general public's opinion of fashion being full of vacuous idiots now has to be turned on its head.
In one stroke, LV have devised the ultimate anti-piracy campaign in China.
Awesome!
This could be a boon to those bag sellers. Who knew they'd come into fashion?
And then we have wealthy Chinese urbanites getting a tan, but making sure it looks different from a peasant tan. It all reminds me of the Doctor Seuss book (the name escapes me) where the people just wanted to always be sure their look was the one for the elites.
