Sometimes I feel sorry for the kids I substitute teach, when they ask me "how did you get so smart?"  Really, it's a combination of parents who stimulate you and feeding yourself a wealth of information through reading.  Reading anything, really.  In the 12<sup>th</sup> grade Mrs Sweet gaves us an essay to read that argued the same thing, and I disagreed.  But now I see kids reading comic books, and it makes me glad that at least they're reading something.  Reading doesn't just teach facts, but also analysis, concentration and discipline.
